📅 Roadmap for 2026 GKS-U Success: Secure Key Dates!

The GKS-U selection process is a long journey spanning approximately five months. The Embassy Track and University Track operate on different schedules, and it is crucial to check for notification of successful candidates at each stage and adhere to additional document submission deadlines. Please note that all deadlines are based on Korea Standard Time (KST), so you must account for time zone differences.

For a successful application, you must plan your strategy in advance for each period—including checking individual university deadlines, preparing for interviews, and making final university selections—rather than simply submitting documents by the deadline. Failing to manage your schedule is equivalent to losing an opportunity regardless of your qualifications.

This guide outlines the entire timeline from autumn 2025 to the spring 2026 enrollment, based on the latest 2026 GKS-U recruitment guidelines. Create your own preparation calendar through this 5th installment of our 8-part successful admission series: Selection Schedule.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q1: Can I apply for the University Track if I fail the 1st round of the Embassy Track?
A: Yes, it is possible. According to the 2026 recruitment guidelines, the 1st round results for the Embassy Track (October 17) are announced before the application deadline for the University Track (October 31). Therefore, if you are rejected from the Embassy Track, you are given another opportunity to apply via the University Track. For this reason, a strategy of applying to the Embassy Track first is recommended.

Q2: Can I change my university after the final announcement?
A: Absolutely not. Especially for Embassy Track successful candidates, once the final university is selected (deadline: January 2), no changes are permitted for any reason.

Q3: What happens if I miss the deadline due to system maintenance?
A: No exceptions are granted. It is safest to complete your final submission at least 1-2 days before the deadline to prepare for potential server traffic or unexpected errors.
