Cheongsong Ice Valley (Cheongsong Geopark)

Cheongsong Ice Valley is a natural phenomenon where the seasons seem to reverse: it blows warm air in winter and cool air in summer. Formed within an 'talus'—a slope covered in rocky debris—the valley cools air as it passes through the crevices of the rocks. Cold, moist air escaping from the base meets the warm, dry outside air, causing moisture to evaporate and lower the temperature. The north-facing slope also plays a crucial role by limiting direct sunlight.
