Hwaam Cave (Gangwon Geopark)

Located in the Hwaam Tourist Complex in Jeongseon, Hwaam Cave is the world's only cave that combines a gold mine with a natural limestone cavern. Originally the Cheonpo Gold Mine during the Japanese colonial period, it was transformed into Korea's first theme-based tourist cave after the limestone formation was discovered. Inside, visitors can see various formations like flowstones, stalactites, and stalagmites. The 1,803m-long cave features a 515m section simulating the gold mining process, along with 'Gold-goblins' and 'Silver-goblins' mascots to make the exploration fun for children.
