Byeolmaro Observatory, whose name means 'a tranquil peak for stargazing,' is situated at 799.8m above sea level on Mt. Bongnaesan, providing optimal conditions for observation. Equipped with an 800mm main telescope and various auxiliary telescopes, it allows visitors to view the moon, planets, and stars. The summit also features a paragliding launch site offering panoramic views, and the night scenery of Yeongwol town is a highlight alongside the stargazing experience. Beyond the observation and planetarium rooms, visitors can enjoy cosmic imagery in the media zone and relax at the third-floor café with a view of the mountain landscape.
