Gumunso (Gangwon Geopark)

Gumunso in Taebaek is a pool located at the mouth of the Hwangjicheon Stream, named for the cave through which the water flows. The stream once meandered around the cave, but now flows directly through it. The surrounding limestone contains diverse sedimentary structures and fossils from the Early Paleozoic era, offering significant academic value for studying ancient environments and river evolution. It is also mentioned in historical records like the Annals of King Sejong for its natural beauty and legends.
