Binggye Valley
Binggye Valley is a designated county park known for its stunning natural scenery. Formed by volcanic activity during the Cretaceous period, it features basalt and rhyolitic tuff. Its main highlights are the 'Binghyeol' (ice cave) and 'Punghyeol' (wind cave), collectively designated as a Natural Monument under the name 'Uiseong Binggye-ri Eoreumgol.' The Binghyeol remains exceptionally cold throughout the year due to the unique air circulation within the scree slopes created by columnar joints, maintaining temperatures below 5°C even during summer. The area also hosts rare northern plant species.
