Hwangji Pond
Located in the heart of the city, this is the source of the Nakdong River. The water that springs from here flows through the vast Yeongnam Plain. Divided into upper, middle, and lower ponds with a circumference of 100 meters, it produces about 5,000 tons of water daily and has been used as a water supply source. Legend says the site became a pond after a wealthy man named Hwang, who refused to give alms to a monk, was punished when his house sank during an earthquake. It is designated as one of the 100 Best Famous Waters in Korea.
